“Candy Candy” was a huge inspiration for me in discovering my love for fashion design. I mean just look at those outfits — how chic are they! They were first published in 1975 but I didn’t read them until around 1997, when I was 11 or 12. And I was totally hooked. The story (oh, the story…), the images, everything.  

Recently I came to know my childhood obsession wasn’t so out of place — I found out the brilliant French fashion illustrator Cédric Rivrain was also greatly inspired by the Candy Candy manga for its’ images.
